Safety
Safety is at the core of everything we do. We strictly adhere to CASA regulations and implement comprehensive safety measures for every flight. Our key safety protocols include:
- Maintaining a minimum 15-metre radius distance from people not involved in the operation
- Flying up to 120 metres (400 feet) above ground level
- Conducting thorough pre and post-flight checks
- Operating only in suitable weather conditions
- Maintain Visual Line of Sight of drone (VLOS), approvals may be applied for to go Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) or Extended Visual Line of Sight (EVLOS). This is assessed on a case by case basis and approvals are not guaranteed.
These rules ensure we conduct all drone operations responsibly and legally, prioritising safety while delivering excellent results for your project.
Weather
Weather plays a crucial role in drone operations. While we can’t control the elements, we can plan around them:
- We don’t fly in thunderstorms or rain for safety reasons
- Each of our drones have specific temperature, rain and wind tolerances – Our Drones page for specifications
- We always check weather forecasts and NOTAMS and will reschedule if conditions are unsuitable to fly
Planning
We’ll work with you to determine the best time and location for your project. Factors we consider include:
- Daylight hours (as required by CASA regulations) 20 minutes either side of sunset and sunrise
- The size of the area to be covered by the drone to determine equipment and personnel needs
- Any site-specific requirements or restrictions
